Remarkable Kangaroo Island!

Well the weather finally let us down! We woke to the patter and splash of raindrops on the MH! and it continued all day! But we didn't let it stop us exploring and adventuring. We had a fabulous day!

Guess we weren't meant to see Vivonne Bay in all her splendour - the sun beaming down on her  white, white sand and her turquoise water! It was very beautiful all the same.......everything on KI is so untouched , unspoilt and natural! :)
Vivonne Beach

The fishing trawler arriving and putting down anchor with its haul for the day

Pete was sorry he didn't have time for a game this morning on the Vivonne Bay Course! :)
The first fairway and green - just different shades of dirt! lol

We were the gallery for the kangaroos playing this hole!

From Vivonne Bay we went to Flinders Chase National Park on the south west end of KI.
75,000 hectares are conserved and forms the largest protected area on the island. It encompasses stunning coastal landscapes - yes!, vast areas of wilderness - yes! and a diversity of wildlife- yes!
We saw it all!  Remarkable!

Mother Nature has been at it again creating her amazing sculptures!  It was incredible wandering amongst her huge pieces of art! She chooses amazing locations for her studios and galleries!

Weirs Cove and Remarkable Rocks
Awesome view!!!

How did she do it!?..................

Mother Nature's Studio and Gallery
Exhibition - "Remarkable Rocks"

Works in progress!  Enjoy....................................

Some interesting thoughts on geological time.................................

Next we visited Admirals Arch, home to a colony of New Zealand fur seals - and weren't they fascinating to watch!
Casuarina Islets (The brothers) from Cape du Couedic

Lovely colours and textures created by the plants and rocks

Seals doing what seals do.........sleep, play, fight, argue, suckle, scratch, stretch, swim, show-off.......

See the pink water!

Hi!

Ouch!

These two were having a ball wrestling!

Lunch!

Admirals Arch
Spot the seals!

The two at the back right were having a huge, noisy argument!

More fun and games, more sleeping, more scratching.......

Fantastic to watch them play in the water - so energetic!

New pups!

Hungry!

The pups having a fight! Got a bit serious!
I'm going to tell mum!.... I don't care!
Stop picking on your brother/sister! You are in big trouble!!
Sorry mum... I won't do it again!!

Watching the whole argument and scenario was so funny! The little fellow ran away with mum hot on his tail.He kept stopping and looking back to see if she was still after him.  She wasn't going to let him get away... off he'd go again with her chasing him! He finally dived into the play pool to get away and hide from her!

Cape du Couedic Lighthouse

And the Kangaroo Islands kangaroos and wallabies! We finally saw some today! A shame though, we've seen more dead than alive -  unfortunately there is so much road-kill here - terrible!

Having a drink from the rain puddle!
A Tamar wallaby

Mum and joey didn't want to get wet - squashed under the tree to get out of the rain
