Canardly believe its beauty!- The Great Ocean Road - Port Campbell,London Bridge, The Grotto, Peterborough,Bay of Martyrs,Allansford and Warrnambool!

We have been blessed with this fabulous weather!  Another amazing day!

More of the stunning Shipwreck Coast today from Port Campbell to Warrnambool. Thought the Twelve Apostles were the only highlight on the Ocean Road but they are only the tip of the ice berg! If you can be exhausted from sheer beauty, then we are definitely EXHAUSTED!  This coastline continues to amaze us!

Climbing the cliff out of Port Campbell on the Great Ocean Road - great view of this lovely village!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
The entrance to the Harbour and the Jetty at Port Campbell
The waves continue to pound!

Campbells Creek ,  Port Campbell
The Tourist Park where we stayed is on the bank of the creek - great location!
Sign of the day! :)
On the back window of a VW Campervan
The Arch

The waves smashing into the entrance of the Grotto - the sound was thunderous!
These cliffs are huge - so are the waves and the amount of water smashing into the coastline from the Southern Ocean!
Just awesome! - took our breath away!

The Grotto

Waiting for the next "biggie" to smash into the Grotto

Here comes the huge wave!
Love the reflection of it in the still grotto water as it surges towards the cliff face
And it smashes thunderously into the cliff......
.....and rushes into the Grotto!

WOW!!!!
The Beach and the entrance to Cudies Inlet at Peterborough, yet another lovely seaside village on the Great Ocean Road!
Surfs up at Peterborough point!
Anyone for a round of golf at Peterborough!? Great coastal views!
Must be able to hit straight on fairways :)
Bay of Islands viewed from Bay of Martyrs

Bay of Martyrs Beach
This area of the coastline is being eroded by the ocean at a rate of 2 cms per year!

Looks very mean! Razor sharp Point and sharp toothed reef!

The Bay of Islands - stunning! The colours were so vivid - painted beautifully!

Allansford, 10mins east of Warrnambool,  is all about cheese, butter and MILKSHAKES!
A rest stop was in order! :)

Pete's a bit partial to a thick- shake now and again! Bliss! - look at that concentration!
I did! :)

WARRNAMBOOL

Lake Petrobe and Lady Bay from Cannon Hill

Warrnambool Beach
A 5.7 km foreshore promenade stretches along the beach of Lady Bay
- a lovely walk from Logan's Beach to the Breakwater.
Beach and Surf Club
It was a hot day today so lots of people enjoying the water!
The Yacht Club
The Breakwater and Boat Harbour

View from the Breakwater

Our walk along the breakwater proved interesting!  Notice the calm water on the left and the turbulence on the right -
the Southern Ocean smashes into the Breakwater - with the huge waves today it was overtopping the wall!
We had to make a dash to avoid getting soaked! :) A bit of fun!
Pete made it unscathed! My turn!

I made it :)

In 1876 planning commenced to protect the harbour utilising huge concrete block weighing 32 tons each,
which were transported to the breakwater site by a specially built railway line - the railway line is still there.
The Breakwater was completed in 1890 and extended in 1915.

Lovely as the sun began to set

So we found out!
There she b.......smashes!

Stingray Bay at sunset

Looking across Stingray Bay to Middle Island (left) and Merri Island (right).
The area is a Marine Sanctuary
The Boardwalk Bridge across the Merri River Inlet to the coastal walking track

Merri River Inlet - empties into Stingray Bay

The huge surf rolls towards the coastal boardwalk and track
Enjoying our walk along the stunning coastline track
Looking back to the Boardwalk Bridge, Merri River Inlet, Stingray Bay and the Breakwater from Pickering Point on the coastal walk

Looking across the Merri River towards Warrnambool town centre from Pickering Point
The Merri is regarded as one of Victoria's finest brown trout streams.

The CBD from Pickering Point

The sun setting on another wonderful day
Great Cafe and Glass Studio overlooking the Merri River salt marsh and wetlands - passed it on our walk home.
Pete's adventure walk this afternoon was 7kms of  great exercise,  sights and experiences!
