Be ferried around stunning Sydney Harbour.

November, 2011

Growing up in Sydney I remember the excitement about a day at the Taronga Park Zoo because not only were we going to enjoy all the amazing animals but we got to ride on the Harbour ferries! A real treat and novelty!

So I was really excited when Julie suggested we catch the ferry over to Mosman Bay - I wasn't disappointed - the ferry ride still held the same excitement for me!; walk from there through the Cremorne Reserve which hugs the waterfront, and  then catch the ferry back to Circular Quay from the Hay Street Wharf in Neutral Bay.

Definitely a "must do" outing if you are sightseeing in Sydney! Besides the magnificent views, the exercise is great! Fantastic to see that parts of the Harbour foreshores are dedicated to public parks and reserves for all to enjoy!

We topped off a fantastic day with a visit to The Rocks for lunch and a stroll through the weekend markets and a reminder of Sydney's early history. Visiting the historic Rocks is another great days adventure to understand this intriguing city.

Come ride the ferry and walk the walk!...........

Waiting at Circular Quay to board our ferry we were excited to see Greenpeace's Sea Shepherd
moored at the Overseas  Cruise Terminal. It was open for inspection.
Loved its fearsome adornments!

Another treat and great fun to visit growing up!

The impressive city skyline as we glide out of Circular Quay.

From the moment Sydney was declared a settlement Circular Quay has been where it all happens!
With many journeys beginning and ending here it is a major junction for bus, rail and ferry transport.
There's entertainment on the quay itself in the form of buskers and street performers, while the cafes
and bars offer stunning views of the harbour.

You can follow the interesting "Writer's Walk" around Circular Quay
which highlights Australian writer's, poets and playwrights.

For dare-devils, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is an adrenalin high!
The BridgeClimb is a unique and unforgettable tour!

The bridge with its soaring arch is the second longest single-span bridge in the world -
New York's Bayonne Bridge beats it by only a few centimetres!

It was completed and opened to traffic in 1932.
One of the best views of Sydney is from the Pylon Lookout - the pylon also contains a great
exhibition of the bridge's history, from the first sketches to Francis De Groot's attempt to sabotage the opening ceremony
