Back to the Mid North Coast and Port Macquarie !

Saying goodbye to the stunning tablelands and heading back to the coast (and the warmth! lol) -  Tamworth to Port Macquarie today. Looking forward to catching up with dad and Jean!

A beautiful drive from the plateau, down the mountains to the coast! Lots of changing scenery to enjoy! The Oxley Highway is a very pretty drive but  the mountain descent to the coast  isn't for the faint hearted - long and lots of twists and bends! Captain Pete was awesome! :)

Enjoyed a few scenic rest stops on our road trip today. Stood atop Moonbi Lookout, about 15kms out of Tamworth on the Newell Highway, and looked up the valley we had just driven through.  Walcha greeted us all dressed up for autumn - loved the wooden sculptures they had dotted around the village! Stopped and explored lovely Apsley Falls before we descended the mountains - it was putting on a fabulous display because of all the recent rain.

The countryside and bush are so vibrant at the moment - so green and lush!

Spectacular view from Moonbi Lookout looking back up the valley towards Tamworth (not visible)

The villages of Kootingal and Moonbi are nestled in this beautiful valley

Balancing Rock - caught the side view from the road below but not so spectacular from this angle at the Lookout

Couldn't see a platypus today - very shy!

The pretty and  peaceful Apsley River before she plunges into the gorge

Quite a system of gorges through which the Aspley and Macleay Rivers course!

The massive gorge - what a drop!

The lovely rainforest starts as we hit the coastal side of the mountain ready for the descent

Jasper Peak
Jasper Peak Holiday Retreat is nestled in this valley  - what a stunning and peaceful "getaway" that would be!

Another scenic road trip day! :) Love how every road tells another great story about our amazing Country!
