The Grumpy Gramps and Kangaroo Central!

Beautiful evening last night  - so peaceful overlooking the Wimmera River, watching the reflections cast their story on the glassy surface.

Different story this morning - it’s raining! It has finally caught us!  We’ve been very lucky so far and have really only had one wet day. Now it’s two! I think we are lucky by the sound of the flooding that is happening everywhere!
We had a nice drive to Halls Gap in the Grampians - though they are very moody today with the low cloud and rainy mist dancing around them - the “grumpy gramps”! They tell us it is going to clear tomorrow - let's hope so - can’t wait to get out and explore this beautiful part of Australia and do some bushwalking!
We came in at the northern end of the Grampian National Park from Horsham, through Laharum, Wartook and McKenzie’s Falls (has an amazing much photographed waterfall which we will visit this week).  As we neared Wartook, in the lovely Wartook Valley, we noticed the Kangaroo sign on the side of the road  but it didn’t prepare us for just how many!!! They are everywhere - they graze in the paddocks like sheep and they where hopping around in the village when we arrived. "Kangaroo Central" Pete named it!

There are sulphur crested cockatoos everywhere and greeting the guests as we drove into the tourist park were a couple of emus! They all seem to be very friendly and obviously they are use to people! We definitely know we are in Australia! It's very beautiful here!

Mt Zero hides in the clouds this morning as we pass by the northern tip of the Park

With the harvest done there are lots of sheep grazing in the stubble-
a common sight on the Wimmera plains the last few days
Our first kangaroo sighting in the Wartook Valley - these little fellows were happily nibbling
on the side of the road and didn't mind me taking their pic!
There were lots and lots more doing this - grazing in the paddocks!
The backdrop to the grazing kangaroos!
The inclement weather added a bit of mystery to the beauty!

Climbing through the mountains - the creek was rushing below and the bush smelt clean
and fresh from the refreshing rain.

How beautiful!
Halls Gap on Fyans Creek - love it!

A very appealing setting! - even in the rain!

The village shops and picnic area on the banks of the creek
Pete's new friend - think he thought Pete might have been good for a bite to eat!
Friendly young chap!
He abandoned us for some new friends who just popped, sorry -  "hopped" in
Having a wash in the rain pool.
Enjoying a graze
Halls Gap on Fyans Creek - love it!

So cute!
