"Stay"-ing in fun Waikiki!

Day 28 Hawaii Waikiki, Friday 14/10/2011

Sadly left the Big Island and Kona this morning for another year, teasing us with her perfect sunshine, green blue water and laid back lifestyle as we cruised through town and out to the airport.

Very clear day so we had a beaut view of the the islands as we winged our way across to Honolulu where Waikiki and her touristy hype awaited - always a fun way to end a holiday in Hawaii!

Fed and said goodbye to our little ginger friend who entertained us
and kept us company at T105 Ali'i Lani

Flying past Maui (right) and Lanai
The strip of ocean between them was where we jumped in
and swam with the Spinner Dolphins on last years trip when we
stayed for a few days in Lahaina, Maui and went on a snorkelling adventure with
Gary, Maureen and Julie,
before heading home. A  fabulous, amazing one off experience!
Honolulu and Waikiki beckon.
Diamond Head watches over!

A stroll at the beach and another amazing sunset!

First stop had to be the Haagen Dazs
Ice Creamery for a Belgian Chocolate Shake!
Pete has one every time we visit Waikiki!
Talked about it all the way from the Big Island!
Savouring every sip!
Night time in Waikiki is always lively and interesting!
Always an interesting stroll around!

Our funky home for a few nights! The Stay Hotel - been open one week.
No frills, basic, clean, friendly staff, great location - around the corner to the beach
and right in central Waikiki.  Good for a one/two night stopover here
but for longer holiday stays in Waikiki there are a myriad of lovely hotels -
always nice to wander through them and sightsee!

A very "handy" chair for Pete to sit in and rest his weary legs
after the night strolling around and taking in the night life!
