Desert sculptures to green painted pastures

Saturday 27/05/2011 Grand Junction to Twin Falls

A bit nippy this morning - feel a cooling of air as we travel further north! Our world today was strangely beautiful as we straddled the Colorado and Utah deserts with their stunning desert-scapes and ever changing sculptures.

As we headed for Salt Lake City the mountains raised their heads again with their stunning snowy peaks. Salt Lake City is a huge city in an enormous valley on  enormous lakes - Utah Lake and Great Salt Lake. We explored Salt Lake Downtown and visited Temple Square, home of the Mormon Religion. A huge, grand conglomeration of buildings and churches! Amazing gardens full of the biggest tulips We've ever seen!  Very impressive! Of course, being the capital of Utah, the Capitol building was sitting atop the side of the mountain overseeing the city.

We headed out of the valley with it's lovely farming land and it wasn't long before we crossed into Idaho and made it to Twin Falls where we spent the night. The emerald green pastures we passed through indicated very fertile farming land.

Very cold! Looks ilk we get back into the winter gear!
