BON VOYAGE!

Bon Voyage!  Friday 22/04/2011
What a spectacular day to leave on a cruise, and from such a magnificent port! Miami sparkled today! Blue sky, green water and sunshine! What a vista as we glided down the channel and into the Atlantic Ocean! South Beach was splattered with colour as all the Easter holiday makers soaked up the beautiful day. Off to the Caribbean!
It was a relaxing day, starting off with a leisurely morning at the Fairmont Inn and Suites (great location for easy access to airport and cruise terminal). We tucked the Turtle into her undercover security parking spot at the hotel and hopped on the shuttle which deposited us at the Cruise terminal at the Port of Miami. “A Stay, Park and Cruise” package is offered at the Fairmont - a great way to go when cruising!
Embarkation was swift and painless and we were straight into the Caribbean mood and atmosphere of the Norwegian Dawn as the music accompanied us around our exploration of our floating home for the next 9 days. After our buffet lunch - with perfect views of Miami  - we found some deck chairs where we relaxed, read and dozed, and watched the beautiful Miami disappear on the horizon.
The evening dining in The Venetian Restaurant was delicious and we had the great company of a young couple from Tampa, Florida, to share the lively conversation with - they were also on the cruise to celebrate their Wedding Anniversary.
We finished the evening watching the entertaining “Welcome Aboard Show” in the Stardust Theatre - there is some great talent on board  - going to be a great 9 days!
