Taking the waters........

It's an old age tradition!

The area we travelled through today is renowned for health and well being, and reviving your spirits!
Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges.

We enjoyed just some of the many unique little villages and towns, each with their own charm, that are scattered in this part of Victoria, as we weaved our way from Castlemaine to Ballarat. We'll have to come back again to see the rest on another road trip - so many lovely places to see!!!

As we left Castlemaine we passed Buda - a charming 19th century residence, home of the noted  Gold and Silversmith Ernest Leviny and his family from1863 to 1981.

HANGING ROCK

Backdrop to the famous book and film.

An old Baptist Church 1863 sits in a farmer's field

Lovely farming area between Hanging Rock and Mt Macedon

The mist was blowing off he mountain - really lovely!

MT MACEDON
No panoramic view of the area today as the clouds swirled and drifted around the peak!

Stately gated driveways - had to imagine the mansions hidden amongst the trees!

TRENTHAM
Surrounded on three sided by the tall timbers of the Wombat Forest - and there are lots of wombats
in the area! Home of famous Trentham Falls - we were lucky seeing them fall today!

Victoria's highest single drop waterfall, plunging 32 metres over basalt columns formed five million years ago
Water falls........
At approximately one metre per second, it takes a drop of water just over 30 seconds to complete
the 32 metre drop at Trentham Falls
The Falls was spectacular today because of the recent deluge Central Victoria received over the past few days
Apparently there were no falls here the other day - the Coliban River was very dry!
Stunning forest - the smell of the eucalyptus permeated the air-
so fresh and clean after the rain
Lots of Olive groves on the way to Daylesford
Beautiful countryside!

DAYLESFORD and HEPBURN SPRINGS
"Boutique towns dedicated to indulgence and well being"

Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

The healing waters rise out of a volcanic basin 450 years old. The water from each spring has acquired its own unique blend of health giving-giving minerals. As you wander around the lovely Reserve you can try them.

 Wyuna Spring in the Reserve

We drank the natural "soda water" from this pump which drew it from the spring -
very nice and suppose to very good for you!!

We really enjoyed this truly lovely part of Victoria today - so much more to see and do in this area!

Will have to come back for some pampering!!!!
