Fruit picking country

We left Albury and headed to Shepparton, stopping on the way to have a look at Benalla on the Broken River - very nice town!

We had a quick look around Shepparton on arrival and then put our feet up at the Shepparton East Holiday Park for a relaxing afternoon. More exploration of the town and surrounds tomorrow! Going to throw our hat in the ring to have a go at fruit picking!! - bit of competition from the backpackers though! We'll see what happens! Will be an interesting experience if we get the opportunity! :)

The site was originally taken up as a pastoral run by the Reverend Joseph Docker in 1838 and called Benalta Run, from theAboriginal word for Musk Duck. A town was laid out on the site in 1846. The Post Office opened on 1 December 1844 but namedBroken River until 1 January 1854

Cows everywhere in this town!

The city hosts the Moooving Art project, which involves local artists painting fibreglass cows, which are then displayed in tourist locations throughout the city and surrounding townships. The project is an artistic representation of the strong dairy industry prevalent in the Shepparton area.
Victoria Lake in the centre of town - nice feature with lovely parkland surrounding it
