Another fun Ferry ride

November, 2011

Before we left inner city Sydney we took another very enjoyable ferry ride  - this time up the Parramatta River to Sydney Olympic Park, home of the 2000 Olympics. Enjoyed Prawn Rolls for lunch before we headed off for our afternoon on the water and a lovely stroll around Circular Key and the Opera House.

Trix -  a bit sad she can't come with us
The Prawn Rolls were delicious!!
Today the cruise liner Rhapsody of the Sea graced the Overseas Terminal
Under the Harbour Bridge we go - great view!
View of city skyline from the west side of the Harbour Bridge
Cruise liner day! P&O's Pacific Pearl caused a traffic jam
on the water as it turned to head out of the Harbour.
Impressive! The passengers line the deck to take in this beautiful  Harbour.
Balmain Ferry Wharf
Good job little tug!
Darling Harbour Ferry Wharf.
The paddle steamer is a restaurant.
Great scene with the Pacific Pearl passing beneath the Harbour Bridge.
Bon Voyage!
Cockatoo Island - host to many city events and festivals.
Have to get there by ferry!
People were pouring onto the island for the obviously popular
art exhibition "Outpost - Art from the Streets".
This Function Centre has a wonderful view!
Very Grand!
Use to be a Mental Hospital.
Sydney Olympic Park

A historical home on the River.
The Jacaranda trees scattered along the river bank amongst the lovely homes
was a picture!
Heading back to Circular Quay.
The old wharves nestled around the harbour are now apartments,
theatres and restaurants.
Passing near the massive South Pylon of the bridge.
The beautiful Opera House is ever present!
The Rocks area.
The old sandstone store houses have been preserved and  beautifully restored.
We're back!
Strolling the concourse from Circular Quay around to the Opera House.
Quite a promenade!
Lots of people enjoying the weather and the great Harbour views and atmosphere.

A few of the many quotes on the Opera House comment wall -
all so true!!
