"Flights" and special stories in the Barossa Valley - Chateau Tanunda, peter Lehmann Wines,Langmeil Winery, Seppeltsfield and Maggie Beer Farm Shop!

We had a fabulous day today enjoying Chateau Tanunda, Peter Lehmann Wines, Seppeltsfield Wines and some culinary inspiration at Maggie Beers Farm Shop. Each has a very special story! Great wine in the Barossa but there is much, much more to enjoy in this fabulous area! Fascinating and inspirational!

Learning the wine tasting jargon! We had "flights" today - a line up of the same wine to taste but slightly different styles so you can compare them. So we "flew" through the Barossa today!
Mind you it was dizzying! lol

Maggie Beers Farm Shop was fabulous - what a wonderful farm Maggie and her husband Colin have created! Pete's comment - "I'm glad we came here, it is really good!" (obviously he wasn't really keen when I suggested we drop in there. lol :) )We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon tea, roamed and tasted the delights created from local produce of the Barossa, watched a cooking demonstration using her famous Verjuice, stood in the kitchen where the popular TV show "The Cook and the Chef" was filmed (an identical replica of her own kitchen), and strolled around the farm and along the Nature Walk they have created. An inspiration!
CHATEAU TANUNDA

The sun came out over the Barossa ranges - lovely backdrop to the Chateau!

The Chateau rebuilt and renovated by the Geber family

Lovely formal gardens and arbour around the Croquet Green
Most congenial!

PETER LEHMANN WINES

Lovely entrance - the gardens and autumn trees were beautiful

The roses love the climate in the Barossa and they are the centre pieces to many of the gardens
The Cellar Door has a great picnic area and more beautiful gardens

The colour of the ornamental grape was stunning!

Very homely on a coolish day!

Enjoying a flight of Chardonnay
Ahh...another fire! :) Goes with a red well!
Settling in and enjoying the moment!
A nice casual dining area - they serve cheese platters to enjoy with your wines.

THE PARA ROAD WINE PATH

We walked part of this great wine trail that links four of Tununda's well-known wineries..........

From Peter Lehmann's we headed along the trail to historic Langmeil Winery

"About Us" is a great story!

The history and heritage..........................
A forgotten picker or a scarecrow?

The Winery has a very interesting history.

It was good to see the original buildings and machinery that were used at Langmeil

The lovely old historic bluestone building looked amazing swathed in the ornamental grape in its full autumn dress
A beautiful arbour to enjoy your tasting on a sunny autumn day

Another warming fire - great atmosphere!

More tastings - enjoyed their Rose and the Tawny Fortified Wine

What an inspirational couple!

The kitchen (identical to Maggie's real kitchen) used in the TV show "The Cook and the Chef" is at the Farm Shop

Great cooking demonstration - three different vegetables cooked using Verjuice - lots of ideas on how the
veges could be used once cooked
The tasting - delicious!
