Armidale has a pedestrian mall which stretches over three blocks of Beardy Street in the centre of city. Built in 1973 it was the first of its kind in regional Australia. It features many shops and cafés with outdoor eating areas along with some historic buildings and notable architecture.

THE WATERFALL WAY
It was time to leave central NSW and head back to the coast. We took the very scenic Waterfall Way that took us from Armidale through spectacular landscape changes - national parks, rainforest, lush countryside and open plains - to Belligen. We then headed for Emerald Beach on the coast and back to the ocean views!
The NP contains around 500km of wild and scenic rivers - hence its name!
These river enter the park from all directions and flow away as the mighty Macleay River which flows into the Pacific Ocean at South West Rocks near Kempsey.
The park is famous for its waterfalls - 13 major are in or near the park.
We visited the Wollomombi Falls which at 260m is one of the highest in Australia.
