It was all about horses and country music today as we headed through Scone in the Upper Hunter Valley, and on to Tamworth on the Western Plains.
SCONE
Scone is noted for breeding Thoroughbred racehorses |
For a horsey town the Ladies and Gents in the park were aptly named :) |
As you do.......... |
Delicious! and Scrumptious! |
Don't think any of us enjoyed the freshly baked scones - absolutely nothing left! :)
Great spot to stop for morning tea! |
Beautiful horse studs line the roads in and out of Scone |
TAMWORTH
Straddling the Peel River, beautiful Tamworth is the major regional centre for the New England district.
Great line up for Easter |
Tamworth is home to the big Golden Guitar - one of the many "big" attractions around Australia |
Tamworth's Information Centre viewed from above - its in great shape! |
Upcoming concerts coming to the Country Music Capital |
The main street of Tamworth, Peel Street, is an interesting walk as plaques detailing the Country Music Awards are embedded in the footpath |
Australia's Country Music Hall of Fame |
Tamworth's heritage buildings have been beautifully preserved..........
The Post Office and Town Clock |
Colourful Street Art mosaics which tells Tamworth's story and highlights its heritage |
Tamworth's other claim to fame is that it is known as the "First City of Lights" as it was the first place in Australia to use electric street lights in 1888.
