Another beautiful island day!

After yesterday's downpour Kona woke to blue sky and sunshine - everything is refreshed. Another beautiful island day!

A perfect day for a wander through town, a dalliance at the beach,  exploring of a local archeological site, and some window shopping. And of course, watching the sunset.

Beautiful day, beautiful Kona town

The locals enjoying a fish off the seawall

Lovely Kailua Bay.The water has been sensational - so clear and blue.
Ready and waiting for the Ironman swim start in a few weeks time.
Beware walking along the seawall - waves breaking! :) A nice cool off if you get hit!

Great day for the beach!

The Hawaiian Village Resort on Alii Drive is nestled into a hillside that has the archeological remains of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village. Most of the hillside has been left undeveloped so as to preserve the historical remains, and within the grounds of the resort the sites uncovered during development have been preserved and give a great insight into the way of life of the early Hawaiians.

Love this shop! How beautiful are these flower arrangements?................

Would you believe the flower arrangements are handmade clay sculptures! Incredible! So delicate and realistic! They are virtually indistinguishable from real flowers. The clay remains soft and the texture feels realistic. As someone said -"Out of Clay....Comes Life".  The talented artist is Darunee Fasano's. A browse in this shop -"Handmade Clay Orchids" is a must if you are in Kona. I marvel at her creations everytime we wander by.

And so the sun goes down on our second last night in central Kona town! Certainly a little different staying right in the centre of town - love tumbling out onto Alii Drive amongst all the shops, restaurants and bars, the historical landmarks and the beautiful, glistening Kailua Bay as the backdrop. Perfect!

Lots of pinks and mauves tonight - very pretty!
