He was well deserving of his fabulous result - for 8hrs 15mins he pushed hard and to the limit, just missing the top spot on the podium by 2min 50 secs, but he declared proudly he'd take 2nd - "the best day of my life" he ecstatically announced to Mike Riley at the finish line, as his stellar race, performance and result sank in.

They are in the water, the helicopter hovers excitedly above, the gun is poised, the supporters nervously find vantage points.........they're off.......the biggest, longest, hardest Ironman race on the circuit -it's the ultimate!
