Oh what a night........New Year's Eve 2012

Our sojourn to Sydney to welcome in 2013 was amazing!

We've always said as we've watched the Sydney fireworks on the TV each New Year that we'd love to be there!   It couldn't have been any better - front row and in a boat - perfect! Thanks Glenn and Jacque for inviting us and making this fabulous experience possible!

We winged our way to Sydney and after being picked up by Julie and Ken we scooted into Paddington, dropped off the boys and Julie and I hit the supermarket and shops to stock up for our day and night on Superyacht Vanquish. With supplies procured we delivered them to Captain Glenn at the Mosman Wharf to be ferried aboard for our day and night of fun, relaxation and excitement on beautiful Sydney Harbour to welcome in the New Year.

What an amazing way to spend the last day of 2012! All guests caught water Taxi's to board Vanquish, which was anchored on the north-side of the harbour, parallel with Fort Denison - an ideal position and vantage point for the afternoon and evening of entertainment and fireworks!

Oh what a day.............

Vanquish awaiting her guests for the New Year spectacular
Wind and choppy water made disembarking the water taxi an interesting challenge

Hostess Jacque welcomes us aboard

Alice relaxed and enjoying the lovely weather and the Harbour
The cruise ship positions for a party night on the Harbour - what a great New Year cruise!
Enjoying the Harbour and cityscape from Athol Bay in the early afternoon
Thrill seekers enjoying the wild ride on the choppy Harbour.
They were yelling "We want to be on your boat!"
Captain Glenn manoeuvres Vanquish into a top position to view the entertainment and fireworks

Vanquish's twin also enjoying a day on the Harbour
More New Year Eve guests arriving to board Vanquish
With all on board everyone gets into some serious relaxing, eating, drinking,
chatting and taking in the sights on and around the beautiful Harbour.
Fun in the sun!

The entertainment begins....................

Mother Nature put on a magic sunset.....a fitting end to a great year!
A spectacular backdrop to the Opera House
Our next door party boat!
Black tie fun! :)
As the sun sets the excitement builds

Lyndsay and Shin enjoying the beautiful evening.....
....as is everyone else....
Ken and Julie
The dare devil pilot thrilled us with his hair raising acrobatics!
Upside down!!! Glad I'm not a passenger!
Swooping from high above and just pulling out above the water!!!
Goosebumps!!!!
Loops
Can't look!
More nail biting plunges towards the water.
Peeking through the fingers!

And the black tie party boat gets into the swing of the New Year fun -
music and dancing!
Oh what a night...............

Sydney Harbour is one of the most beautiful and picturesque harbours in the world and to see it light up and come alive on New Year's Eve was awesome.

The sensational, spectacular and magical fireworks and decorated vessels lit up the night's sky to EMBRACE 2013!........

The best sleep on board Vanquish after an amazing day and night!

Disembarking at the Cruising Yacht Club at Rushcutter's Bay on Day1 of 2013
Heading out into a great new year!

THANK YOU GLENN AND JACQUE!

  1. Dear Peter and Vicki

I'm sorry to bother you but I'm a freelance journalist and I've been asked to write a piece about the five amazing lighthouses. My editor is keen for me to include quotes from travel experts who have their own blogs and I was hoping you will give me permission to use a very short quote from your website - it would appear as it appears below. Obviously I will send through the link to your website and send through a PDF of the article as soon as it's published.

    Thank you,

    Regards

'The lighthouse was originally fuelled by whale oil, then kerosene and later electricity,' report travel bloggers Peter and Vicki Mckenzie, founders of www.peterandvickimckenzie.blogspot.co.uk. 'The giant red crystal lens inside the lighthouse was shipped from England and is valued at £3 million.'
