After our enjoyable 5 day trial tour in the Motor Home we had to mark time for 8 days while the driver's cabin air-con was attended to - need that air conditioning!
As we planned to be in Huskisson this weekend our two weeks meander down the coast became a quick 3 days! One of Pete's athletes, Alice, is racing the Long Course Tri Champs there on Sunday - it will be great to cheer her on! A surprise and bonus is that Luke decided to do the race, so we get to see him and Amanda as well! Nice!
Brisbane to Port Macquarie is always a scenic drive, especially the far north coast south of Tweed Heads around Murwillubah, Byron, Lennox Head and Ballina - the lovely weather and the scenery set the mood for our trip - it's going to be spectacular!

Very lush after the recent rain - or should we say deluge! |

From Port we wended our way down to Sydney where we are staying in the Lane Cove River Tourist Park - an eco-friendly park run by the National Park and Wildlife Services. What an idyllic setting nestled in the Lane Cove National Park! Can't believe we are in the middle of a big city! There are great bush walks all through the park, and Sydney CBD, with all its attractions, is only 10 kms away! Very impressed! We'll be back!
A lunchtime stop at Heatherbrae's Pies - the curry one's are very very nice! |
A quick siesta for Pete after lunch! |
Peak hour traffic in Sydney - now we know why we don't live here! |
Turned off that busy road and in two minutes pulled up here! Unbelievable difference! Traded the congested roads and sounds of traffic for the peaceful bush and the song of the birds! |
